What are the best surfing beaches in the Dominican Republic?
Tourists who love surfing and ‘bodyboarding’ have at their disposal in the Dominican Republic more than 70 beaches that invite you to challenge the rough waves of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea on a board.
Many? Where are they? Spread across the north and south coasts along 1,566 kilometers of coastline, from Encuentro beach (Cabarete), through Macao (Higüey), Gubia (Santo Domingo) and up to Mosquea beach (Pedernales).
A review of the data from the Dominican Surfing Federation (Fedosurf) confirms the country’s potential for this water sport.
The best thing about Dominican beaches, explains Fedosurf, is that there are all kinds: with right and left wave breaks and waves in both directions; and with different wave bottoms (sandy, reef, stony sandy, rocky and rocky). These conditions, says Fedosurf, satisfy surfers with different levels of preparation: initiated, intermediate, advanced and professional.
“All this with a wonderful tropical climate and splendid blue and warm waters, where lovers of surfing and fun will only have to carry their baggies, their boards and their desire to surf.”
If you dare to meet them, kawabonga!
